I'm currently looking for a Sprint, but saw this advertised and thought it would be worth a look.
It's a 1500 HL no tax/no mot. 44,000 miles Wants £300 ono

I was told the engine and gearbox are in good running order. Started it up ( needed jump start ) sounded good.

The interior was moderate....front was good, but the rear looked like at some point a previous owner had a dog in the back that liked to jump up and look out the rear window

The exterior was....well.....a bit rusty. The majority was repairable at home with a bit of tlc. Rear boot and engine were solid. The worst part was below the windscreen. Obviously had been filled at some point but even that was giving way with holes the size of my thumb.

My main query is the reg plate must be worth at least £250.

search a couple of web site such as newcarreg.co.uk for prices of similar plates. you could strike luckly and find a person or company with those initials and willing to spend money to have that plate.
but as mr V8 says it does need to have a MOT. and tax.

The registration companies are only brokers. They will list your registration but you will not get any money until a sale is made which could take years.

I always value a car on the car's condition regardless of the plate. As the guys have said, it might take years and lots of money to get the car to a stage where you can MOT it and maybe think about selling the plate.

I'm never prepared to pay more if it has a "desirable" plate, this is after all part of the car's history and identity. I would however pay less for a pre-63 car which has had it's reg number transferred because you can spot age-related plates a mile off and they look awful.
