Hi

I need to get a new battery for my Sprint - any suggestions as to a decent one?

I've seen halfords HB038 as a possible if it's up to the job?

Thanks

I recently got a 015 for about £42 delivered from Tayna batteries of Abergele,North Wales.
It has a 3 year guarantee,is plain black in colour and was sent very well packed next day.
Got mine through ebay,or call them on 01745 823399.
They get my vote for quality, price and service...

Been running one of these on my 1850 for around 5 years now, does the job perfect. Good price too.

A substantial discout is available with a halfords trade card. I blagged one a while ago, produced some trade receipts (I got a trade card with vauxhall via their owners club, membership paid for 3 times or more from the discounts)
Or you are bound to know somebody with one. But they are getting fussier, I keep getting asked to sign and they check the sig these days. And pay cash if you borrow one....
You should save approx 30%

I've had mixed results with Halfords stuff but Yuasa ones from Maccess type trade outlets work well for me and are pretty cheap too.

015 or 038 will do, Sprint spec is 015 but later 038's are quite capable.

I recently used www.batterymegastore.co.uk in Tewskbury. £37.99 for the battery inc. delivery. Calcium technology with a 4 year guarantee!

Thanks for the suggestions - I shall go spend some money and hopefully report back that it's started for the first time in 10+ years!! (It still turns freely)

Ouch,...

Dont try starting it until you have drained the old fuel and replaced all the rubber section of fuel line and clean out both float chambers. It will start much more easilly if you prime both chambers from a can.

Isn't that a bit overkill just for fitting a battery?

Sounds good advice for a car that hasn't started in 10 years.
However, I would also have the plugs out, a good squirt ofvoil down the bores as well. Then spin the engine with plugs out.
Then try to start it with the fresh fuel.

I know...how far do you give advice on a battery thread....

New thread on how to start an engine up after a 10 year period of indolence would be the thing....

Good advice though Clive...
