Is anyone interested in attending the Bradford Classic and Performance Car Show on 16th August 2014.

I went last year and it was a good well attended show. I had the only Dolomite there and it would be great if we could get a few more to show the range. Theres no entry fee and prizes are awarded for best in show. Last year a Triumph TR6 won the vote, the Lord Mayor picked a Nissan?? and I got interviewed by the local radio station.

Its held in the city centre with live music and a special event street market, and of course the shops, to keep spouses entertained. This year they are also looking for competition cars and vehicles made in Bradford ie Jowetts and Scott so Steve how about bringing your Jowett. I know there are a few members living close to Bradford and I think some ex members living in Bradford.

Entry is by form and numbers limited so if you are interested you can download the form from www.bradford.gov.uk look for leasure and culture (or just Google Bradford Classic Car Show 2014) or email haley.torok@bradford.gov.uk.

Bob's just brought this to my attention so I'll be getting in touch and see if we can get a club entry. I've sent an e-mail so I'll report back when I hear something.

Had an email from the organiser and she says if enough of our members want to attend we can have a club block booking and an area will be reserved for us. I've spoken to Dave and he is going to contact them for more info.

So if you want to go get in touch with Dave asap as so he can book it.

Still not heard anything back. This is now my new target for getting the 1850 MoTd. The road tax is due at the end of August. I might even have some paint on it by then!

I've just sent another follow-up e-mail and hopefully, I might get a reply this time. If anybody is interested then please let me know. Unfortunately, due to family commitments, Steve W. won't be able to make it.

I've had a reply and I was just sent a copy of the entry form so it looks like everyone will have to submit their own entries unless I find out differently. I can either e-mail a copy of the entry form or you can visit the page on Bradford Council's website HERE where there is a link to download the entry form. I've asked about e-mailing a scanned entry form to them.

Everyone will have to put in their own individual entry but we can be put together in one spot. They will accept a scanned entry form. I just edited the Word document, saved it under a different filename (just added my own name) and e-mailed it back.

My 1850 will be road legal by then so I'll be able to make this one.

I've had a reply from the organiser acknowledging my entry so you can just edit the Word document and e-mail it back to them. If anybody else is attending please let me know so I can arrange for us all to be together in the same spot.

Is anyone else going? I had email this week saying they are emailing details out next week to entrants.

Still my intention to go with my very late 82 1300 if my builders don't cause problems. They were coming to demolish an old building and build a new garage in a couple of weeks but rang to say they are coming next week so I need to move cars out of the way so it may not get prepared.

I will be going down for a nose around, however, as mine is still a long way off, no car sadly.
I'll make myself known to you, I have met Dave.

There were only 2 of us in Dolomites (me and Bob) but Trevor made an appearance along with Roger & Kath who have a 1500TC but came in their Capri. I'll let the photos do the talking.

I forgot to mention that David Simister of Classic Car Weekly interviewed both me and Bob so keep a lookout for us both within those pages. I've asked him to mention the TDC so I've been doing my bit to raise the public profile of the Club.

Also, a gentleman came up to me saying that he's got a Dolomite engine and gearbox. He thinks it is from a Sprint. I've got his contact details so I'll get in touch and I can take a look.

Dave has beaten me to putting up pictures but I would like to add a couple of comments.

This show was again excellent and very well attended from an original Knight Rider to A35's and everything between with a lot of interest shown in our cars. Of course humble Dolomite's didn't win that went to a Jenson and Bentley. However Dave's car did get a lot of positive comments and attention with one guy saying its what he considered to be a real classic and the news editor of Classic Car Weekly saying its the car that out of everything there got his interest. I hope that these comments help give Dave a boost after some of the negative vibes on his thread and problems he's been having.

There was one other member introduced himself to me who lives local to Bradford and has a 1978 1300 dolly with 42.5k on the clock. He hasn't got internet so was not aware we were going. I think Dave has his name, but he has a 1500 engine and gearbox got from Blackpool for £30.00 and wants to know if the head will fit his 1300. Even the oracle Dave wasn't sure, will it?

I'm sure his name was Les. If he's a Club member then he should be on the database. I'll get Andy P. to send me an updated list of local members.

I managed to take a look at the current edition of CCW but we didn't feature in the article.
