1500 FWD almost finished

Hi,

The 1500 FWD that I bought on this forum a while back (over a year ago) - how time flies - is almost finished. It's now back from the painter - after LOTS of welding - and body and body prep. New carpets, tank fixed and lots of small fiddly cleaning jobs.

A full set of pics can be found on flickr for those interested in the progress.

Seats still to clean and fit, handbrake cable to fix, brake overhaul, rear exhaust to fix and a rear wheel bearing to replace then off for an MOT.

That looks nice. What's the truck in the background?

This was Melanie's 1500fwd. Glad to see it getting the TLC it needed. Looking good.

Thanks.

Truck is my 1941 Chevy Pickup, restored in 2008 and used for garden refuse, motorbike transport, shows and everything in between. Loaded her so much that she's off the road awaiting new rear springs - the old ones were 73! There's a bit of a restoration diary here - http://www.dalbuie.com/41_Chevy_Diary.html

And behind the truck is my 1973 Mini Winnie, now running, driving and watertight but needing an interior (have the 1973 plans and colours so going with that next year, hopefully) - https://www.flickr.com/photos/32716478@ ... 710915095/

Yes, it's Mels old car, once it's finished I'll take it along for her to see - if she's still in the same place.

That is looking good. I hope I'll see you cruising the roads of East Lothian soon.

Glad it's staying in Scotland. :)
I hadn't long had my Dolly running when I looked in the rear view mirror at lights in Edinburgh and couldn't believe my eyes to see a smiling Mel waving. :D

I have some free clear glass I need to get rid of?

..and an MOT is now in hand - with no advisories :D

Not been run for a while so a decent run and tune up planned for the weekend - and then probably up for sale while I'm using it as I now have a Wolseley 15/50 (1958) as my daily driver and several other 'projects' to start!

Lovely. Guess the 1500FWD must be the rarest of the lot now?

Oh wow, it's looking lovely. I wish I had the money to take her off your hands and keep her in East Lothian.

Will Mel want it back?

I would....

That or a 15/50 is a tough call..

Thanks all.

I'll be using her on dry days for a while until I'm sure everything is 100% but will try to find Mels details and let her know.

Mel's details should be on the V5C (as the previous registered keeper) unless she has changed her address since selling the car.
