Sprint Standard Springs

#1 Post by James467 »

Apologies if this has already been discussed, I can't find a definitive answer when searching the forum.

The springs on NWL are 30 years old and after over 100,000 miles have probably sagged and lost some of their spring so I have decided to replace rather than blast and powder coat them.

Rimmers sell two types of Spring, standard and heavy duty, both listed for all models.

What is the recommendation on a Sprint? Given the engine is heavier than a 1500 (for example) should I go heavy duty?

I want to keep the car standard so would like to avoid fitting Spax kits etc...

I have uprated standard height springs that were supplied by sprintspares, there 175lb on the front and 170 lb on the back ( which i think are what the rimmers heavy duty ones are ), the guy who ran sprintspares at the time recommended them as a good upgrade for a standard road car combined with uprated rubber bushes at the rear and the front ( 90 shore rating as opposed to 70 shore for standard ) the originals are i think around the 150/145 lb mark, car is much nicer handling and not to hard on the bumps over the standard setup :)
