Sprint Piston Markings

Can anyone explain what the size markings mean on the top of these Sprint pistons? I initially thought they were 0.040 oversized, but measurements show them to be standard. These are original Mahle pistons, with no other markings. All are marked the same.
Thanks!

They are graded on fitting tolerance IIRC. E is pretty good. Only F would be higher.

Hmmm.
The Sprint manual only calls out F and G grades and gives their dimensions.
Any explanation for the 210 above and 040 below the E?
Thanks.

210 is Mahle factory number. The "E" is an M, the mark of Mahle and the lower number is the production date. April 1980.
