Sprint front springs

Seems there's a problem with the front springs - the driver's side one is 20 mm shorter than the pasenger's. So I guess I need a new set. Unfortunatly, I've no info on them - length or rate - other than they're blue.
Any suggestions of what to do, other than replace the full set?

I bought new springs from Rimmers but I found that they have one more coil than original whcih cause a problem when the springs fully compresses .
the rear springs were 3mm too large on the outer diameter so that the top caps would not fit.
I sourced a matched pair of second hand springs, had them sand blasted and powder coated,

You will have to replace both sides at the same time or you will get uneven wear. It is false economy to replace the spring on one side. If one has gone then the other will likely follow suit.

Well I wasn't planning on replaceing one spring. I just don't want to replace the full four.
Just wondering if anyone's an idea of what they might be from the colour.

sprint standard front springs are rated at 139 LBS with a fitted length of 9 inches
However I like mine uprated to approx 200 lbs even on road.
Sadly just yesterday I threw away some standard front springs as part of my spring clear out.
Rears are same rate but a fitted length of 8 inches.
I prefered the rears kept standard rate.

When do you have a gearbox clear-out or an engine clear-out?

I have some blue springs rated IIRC at 180lb.
Orange ones seem to be rated higher too but my orange ones are also shorter.
Factory ones are 140lb as TJ says and are always black IME.
I found 180lb a tad stiff on an 1850 for my old man jag and p6 driving taste.

Jon,
Are the blue ones spares you might be persuaded to sell?
If not, have you any idea where they were from?

I think I had them with shocks ready fitted for a project that got stolen.
Let me find them and I'll get back to you.
I did put some std ones by for someone in Notts area too but he went quiet on me.

Did the blue springs turn up? I need to get this job done asap, so if they're beyond finding, I'll have to order some v. soon.

Are you after standard rate springs? Try Fitchett's. They should have what you need. I've just had a look in my parts catalogues and I've got 3 different part numbers for Sprint front springs and that's just for the RHD cars.

The problem is, I don't know what I've got to be sure, other than they are blue. And I don't want to get something different because I'm reasonably happy with the handling as it is.
The other problem is I can't really aford to have the car off the road - there's a reasonable good garage next to work that can repalce the springs while I'm at work. But if I have to have the ones that are on, pulled, measured, and rated, and replacements ordered, etc., it'll take a few days to do it. Plus, for entirely personal reasons, like I'm holding a huge grudge, I'm selective about where I want to buy them from.
