I am about to renew both crankshaft seals, do I need to lubricate them at all,I seem to remember somebody suggesting smear of grease on the lip of the lip seal..Myles.

And an additional advise: cut the spring of the rear seal about 1 cm shorter. Spring is a bit too lose, which leads to early oil leakage.
I can't seem to find the original thread, but I followed this advise for my 1850 block and it worked (untill now that is, fingers crossed).

That will be one of my posts but refers only to the slant engines and i thought Myles had a 1500 engine and those seals don't have to be modified.
