Car Alarm

Hi, I would like to fit an alarm to my 1300fwd but looking around the alarms for sale seem to be made for new vehicles and not a 49 year old one. They all mention about central locking and electronic this and that.
Can anyone recommend an alarm for me, even if it only gives an alarm on timer after doors are opened?
Thanks
Pete

Save your money and invest in a simple immobiliser device or steering wheel lock. If someone wants to break into your car they will irrespective of whether it has an alarm.

When was the last time anyone paid attention to a car alarm going off?

Bonnet up, disconnect the +ve to the coil, bonnet down.
That won't stop them breaking in - the best deterrent for that is a high vis steering lock, then they know they can't just drive off, not without a struggle.
My 1300 fwd was nicked in 1978, any key fitted.

Or use the old fashioned alarms.

or this?

But a simple flashing led with a hidden changeover switch as an immobiliser is handy and simple.
Disclok excellent if worried about theft of the car. But sometimes it will just been pulled on a back of a lorry, and nothing stops that.

A few years ago i did write an article for the dutch club triumph about car alarms. It is useless. When a thief tries to start or take your vehicle probably the by standers do even help "the man with the triumph that does not run". As said the best is a big visible mechanical device that locks the steering and gear lever. That prevents from stealing for any reason. I cannot think a reason why somebody wants to break in for other reasons so an alarm that goes off when entering or any immobilizer i would not fit.
