But they only do the early type with the two raised seems.

I too will be looking to replace my vinyl roof as part of my sprint restoration but graham made reference to the early type of roof as having the two seams. My vinyl roof has the two seams described but its a '78 model. Does this mean that my car has the incorrect vinyl fitted? Should I in fact replace it with a one piece vinyl?

My '78 still has its original roof which is the type with 2 seams.

I have no reason to think that my vinyl isn't original. My car was 10yrs old when I bought it from Hornchurch, London. I actually prefer the roof with the two seams so I think I will place it with the same, if its available?

I'll have a look at their website for a price and add it onto my ever expanding budget!

Not entirely sure, but I think the seamless vinyl roof on Sprints was introduced from chassis number VA 30001 on, which means a Sept. 1978 production date.

I phoned Martrim to enquire about availability and costs of the vinyl roofs only to be told that the chap I need to speak to wont be in till the following week. I called again this week only to be told he wont be in till next week. Think I see a pattern forming here??

I've just ordered one from the lbh. It should arrive by the end of this week so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Andy, I looked at their website yesterday and put their number into my phone. I will try Martrim one more time, going on Madmarts recommendation, but yes I will be interested to hear what you think of lbh?

Me too, as my Sprint has been fitted with a later one, and I'll want to replace that if I ever get it to the point of having it painted back in Mimosa.

Also, apologies for any confusion from calling the seamed roof "early" instead of earlier. I was just going off MikeyB's 'How do we spot an "Early One"?' post, and thought they stopped in 76 or so.

The lbh is good quality and the kit was £180. It is only available in the seamed pattern but that aside it looks fine and I've no quibbles. It'll be fitted during next week when my Sprint has finished been painted. I've just ended a two year debate with myself over keeping it in Brooklands Green as it was when I got it (after an early colour change from the original Russet Brown). I'll put some pictures on the resto section of the bodywork and respray and of the finished roof on here too. Despite Brooklands being my personal favourite Dolly colour I decided to return it to original spec as I'm a sucker for originality. My first brown Triumph since owning a second hand Spitfire 1500 in the early eighties!
Very much looking forward to a few classic events in the bright brown one!
Andy.

Thanks for that Andy. Today (Monday) I plan to fit new front struts and springs, remove old brake pipes and trial fit wings and front panel. Oh, and try phoning Martim again!
