Hi all I'm refurbing seats at the mo and wonder if anyone knows where to get seat diaphram hooks and also the vertical wires that the rubber belts on the seat back attach to? I have a broken one of each in the drivers seat.

I've been getting some SH doly spares from S&S at Bacup lately: got a good antiroll bar bracket last week. Give Steve a ring, he may have what you want.

Actually, thinking about it, I have a bag full of bits from a >76 sprint drivers seat the padding died on, and which have no use for, but was too Yorkshire to throw away. If you post pictures of what you want. I'll see what I've got. But it'll likely be next weekend befor I do.

Graham I actually ended up welding then back together and made some replacement hooks from coat hangers - must be a bit of yorkshire in me too

I'm now trying to decide if I update the seats a bit or stay totally original? I might try and straighten the curve out in the back and increase the wing size a little. Might improve them a little? I also hate the huge slope at the top of the seat

What you want are really early TR7 seats...they have the same material as dollies.
Sadly pretty rare...so good luck on that one.

T2000 seats are pretty similar and IIRC Wittor the T2000 man has new diaphrams made....that will sort a soggy bottom.

They are a fiddle and with the right pliers/hook tools it ought to be possible to change the diaphram without taking the cushion right off, but
I couldnt manage it when I did one.

You can make new diaphragms quite easily using heavy duty EPDM, a punch and some eyelets. That's how I've seen it done anyway. Shame the material is not readily available. Allegedly Newton Commercial have some of very similar but they won't sell it per metre to me.

I also cant see any reason why a diaphram couldn't be replaced with a network of suitable webbing strips.
That what some other seats (like my old Magnetteand Rover P6 ) use to good effect.

Have ordered some epdm sheeting and will try the eyelet approach. I have also decided to get rid of the whole metal spring idea in the seat back and am going to try rubber sheet there as well. Even after I got all welded up I don't like it and the rubber straps on the back are pretty worn and I can't see why sheeting shouldn't work on the back as well? I'm going to weld wires down the inside of the frame to hog ring the sheet to.

This will also get rid of the curve in the seat backs which I don't like.It should also make the whole seat back thinner which means it will deepen the wings at the side of the seat and give a little more support

New to this so it may not work at all but I'll keep you all posted.

It sounds interesting, you've obviously put some thought into this.
Pictures of work in progress would be appreciated, even if the end result isn't perfect it would help others in the future.
