I had quite a surprise last week. I was clearing out the parcel shelf on my 1850 and I noticed a strange metallic object behind it, mostly hidden by the black material of the shelf itself. It took a bit of digging out but it turned out to be one of these magnetic name-plate badges. The sort that people wear at car shows etc. It was in quite good condition, still shiny, no rust and a very strong magnet which had held it in place for what must have been decades. Certainly it was the first time I had seen it in 5 years of SWK ownership.
It had an unusual name on it and a the Company name was a well known financial institution. Good old Google ! How did we ever manage before the www ?
It turned out that the guy on the nameplate has risen from being a fairly junior person to being a very senior guy in the same organisation having been with the company for more than 30 years.
So I photographed the name plate, included some history and photos of the car and sent it off to the Company.

Strangely the guys name doesn't figure in the log-book.

I really hope to get a reply with more history of SWK soon.

Its something I have always done on all previous cars - leave a card with my name and address on it hidden somewhere as a security measure.

That set me thinking - back in the early eighties I unscrewed the front sidelight cover on my automatic Sprint MKH200V. Out popped a spare set of keys for the vehicle; I'd had it 2 years and never knew they were there. You do wonder about previous owners but I did think this was ingenious, they were quite invisible from outside.
