Good question Rob, I've always wondered why the 1850 doesn't have hoses but the 1850 and the 1500 do.

No, my 1850 doesn't have these air hoses either. I had a look in the parts catalogue and they are listed for the Sprint and 1500/HL, but nothing for the 1850. I can see the advantage in constant cold air being supplied to the carbs; I might have a look at fitting some.
Tony.

No 1850's never had hoses. Sprints did and Spit 1500's did too so dolly 1500's may well have had them.
TR7's ended up with a flap valve to draw warm air from the exhaust, presumably needed to stop carb icing in the US.

Hi Tony,
Please keep us up to date if you fit some. I would be very interested in any changes in behaviour of the engine.
In the 90s...

When I had a Sprint, I took the hoses off and noticed no difference at all.

Aye, I know that some folk have done this on T2500S models to stop them stalling at junctions during the winter.
Didn't other BL cars of the late TR7 era have summer/winter air cleaner settings, eg the Ambassador? (By the way, late US spec TR7s had fuel injection.)
