Windscreen delamination

Had a small patch in drivers bottom corner when I bought the car and have kept the car dry in the main, checked forecast today before going out and said a "light shower" so went out happily but it hammered it down, for almost half an hour and straight away I could see the water creeping and milky cloud around it. got home and tried to dry out etc. Obviously the seal has gone in the corners where the silicone has failed, but is there a way of fixing or is it a screen out and replace job?
cheers Rich

The only cure is a replacement screen. You will need a new trim strip because the old one will be brittle and break upon removal.

How easy is a screen and strip to come by? And are any specialist tools / skills required?

THIS thread may be of some help. I bought my windscreen trim from Rarebits and it was a perfect fit so it comes highly recommended. You will need to soak it in hot water before fittig it to make it a bit more pliable.

You can get the seal and the strip off ebay. I had mine done recently and neither leak, so it seems to have worked.

I found my screen in a scrapyard in Doncaster, in a Dolomite being striped for parts. I think you can still get them new. Can't remember how much a paid, but I think it was around £30.

Got a local company to do the job for £40, they basically kicked the old screen out. Fitted the new rubber round the replacement one, placed it in position, used some cord to pull the rubber over, and then put the stip in with a special tool. They did it in minutes and made it look pretty easy.

Of course they must do hundreds of them.
