Drain plug thread type
Does anyone know what the Sprint gearbox drain / filler thread sizes are? Is the sump the same? Hopefully I can then get something suitable locally.
Old one measures approx 5/8 diameter and thread is tapered and 18tpi. It would help if I knew what to ask for.
Thanks
Geoff

Re: Drain plug thread type
Sounds like a 3/8 BSP thread. BSP sizes do not relate to the thread diameter but the size of pipe they are intended for.
Hope this helps

Re: Drain plug thread type
The drain plugs are also tapered to get a better seal....
ooops I just noticed you already said that...

I always wrap a bit of PTFE tape around the threads. Not sure of the size though.

Yes.......
The gearbox (and also engine and back axle) filler and drain plugs are interchangeable.
The BL workshop manual describes it as "3/8" N.P. plug".
