What actually holds the glass into the metal surround?
I'm asking as I could hear wind noise around the front passenger door and realised the quarterlight glass has dropped back at the top, leaving a 3mm or so gap. It still seems to be held fine further down and at the bottom, but can imagine it dropping out on the move.
I've tried gently pressing the glass in, which is fine while the quarterlight is open, but it's just pushed out again as the window is closed. Don't really want to try walloping it with a rubber mallet as I'm sure I'll end up breaking the glass or bending the frame. Does it need something like tigerseal to hold it into the rubber gasket?
Anyone else encountered this problem?

It is just held in with friction.

It is toughened glass; you'd be extremely unlikely to break it with a rubber mallet unless there was a bit of grit embedded in the rubber or something!

This happens to mine Mark, but like you was not very keen to be very forceful with it, instead I've opted to just leave that particular Ql (passenger side) closed!!

Might it work then to remove the glass completely, remove and clean up the seal then reassemble everything? If there is still movement I could use some black tigerseal to help bond the glass into the seal. Is the seal which fits into the opening frame available separately?

I removed the whole q/light assembly.
NOT an easy job!
The rubber holding the glass was perished, I replaced this with a piece of silicone rubber and then used silicone sealant.
Do not use silicone sealant! Damned if I'm removing the lot again though.
Go with a non-setting windscreen sealant, still available in caulking type tubes.
I had the luxury of new q/light rubber seals for re-assembling, but if I open the q/lights they're a bg ger to get closed again properly, so I ask people not to fiddle!
