Hi there

I'm looking to fit a hydraulic handbrake to my car and have been reading up on the fact it's not MOTable, but could you in theory use an electric handbrake like in modern cars alongside a hydraulic set up?

Hi. My old rally car had a hydrolic handbrake. I had cables installed as well but they where only for show. Only had trouble with mot once and that was at a quick fit place. Only went there cos I could get and mot from my normal place in time for the rally. They didn't notice the badly fitted handbrake cables. But wanted to fail it on the fact that I could chance the brake biase from the dashboard. They made me disconnect the linkage so I couldn't adjust it while I was driving. Knobs. You can get little mechanical calipers for the hand brake all depends on what you are doing with the car. You can really park a car on a hill and leave it on a hydrolic hand brake, so no use on a road car.

Ah well, that's gotta suck. Might put hydraulic handbrake on the back burner for a while, might put it in the front wheels, to lock the fronts and do burnouts

I christen the burnout bar

You can get an electric linelock like mine for a few quid no need to use a handbrake for it!
