What's happened to your existing engine?
I've got an engine and box here, minus head, and timing gear, but it's an unknown quantity.

I acquired it a few years ago, it's been sat in the garage ever since.

Whatever the problem is, you've come to the right place. Seek a second opinion before condemning your engine.

Engine is seized. taken head off. can not turn over by hand. little bit of sideways movement in all the pistons and no scoring on the cylinders so guessing they should be all good. so bottom end damage im assuming.

Hmmm, seized when you were driving, or after standing?

Stupid as it sounds, is there no movement on the crank at all, either rotational, or fore/aft?

The engine in Coventry turns nicely

It seized while driving. I wasnt driving at the time but hey ho. Not too impressed to say the least. Is it possible to take engine out and leave gearbox in situ?

The block can be removed leaving the gearbox in situ. It should be a bit lighter with the head off. Have you made any attempt to free the pistons? It might be better to try this with the engine out of the car anyway.

Pistols have small sideways motion but no up or down. Just need to get the engine out. But sourcing a crane is proving difficult. A couple of us should be able to lift it by hand though I would have thought?

As before, block etc here in Coventry, I would recommend rebuild before fit, currently attached to a good gearbox, but can be split off.

Make me an offer
