Front Mount Alignment

I have replaced my engine mounts but the drivers side seems to be a long way out of line (see below). The other side is just about right. I have loosened the rear mount.

The reason I looked at this was because the old mount was only bolted at one end (more than likely to get it to fit).

I realise that some fettling would be needed but this seems a long way out (I have put a bolt through the bracket hole to show it more clearly).

I havn't disconnected anythings so could it be that the exhaust is causiing it to rotate?

Also, does anybody know which way the restrictor is supposed to fit?

Here's the photo of my nearside restrictor plate that I'd recently reinstated.

Try loosening all the bolts on both engine mounts. This should help to get it all lined up. Once everything has been started on the threads, you can tighten it all up. I had the same problem during my recent driveplate swap but if you persevere, you will prevail.

Thanks for the words of inspiration Dave.

As I thought jacking up the manifold rotated the engine and it's all back together (after a lot of swearing etc.)

Now for the gearbox mount.
