TV Professionals

#1 Post by trackerjack »

My enforced leisure time due to ilness has enabled me to watch this series which started being recorded in the late seventies and the heroes drove various BL cars including a white Sprint. These so called Professionals behaved like idiots both in their driving and in their execution of their work.
Did we really think they were professional back then?
Well due to BL being led by complete corporate pygmies the TV company stopped using BL products because they were so unreliable on many counts and Ford stepped in with Capri 3litre's which were much better in all respects sad to say.
What I never noticed back then is that on one or two occasions they had a silver Capri full X pack 8) and I remember visiting a Ford showroom where thay had an X pack RS2000 and these cars certainly looked like they could deliver the goods.
I wonder if that silver Capri still exists.
I had an RS3100 Capri in which I competed in the 1982 Birkett 6 hour race and then sold it as it was a piece of junk compared with the TR5 which preceded it.

Never mind I still like watching these old series as in one episode the baddy got away in a 1300 FWD Dolly and the cops often drive my favourite car ........the 2.5 PI.
track action maniac.

Jon, BL wanted the cars back after each episode was filmed. Ford let them keep the cars for an entire series. This is another example of poor execution by BL.

I believe the same happened in the New Avengers series, BL took the car away every time and replaced with a random car of random colour.

You just cannot believe the poor management decisions made in those days can you?
Good job they did not keep management like that or they might have sold the whole lot to the Chinese for a pound particularly if they were so stupid as to get drunk during negotiations!
