dolomite sprint engine rebuild

I am considering rebuilding a spare sprint engine I have, I would be interested in improving its performance for road use only, what are the best performance modifications to carry out but keeping the standard SU carbs.
Is there any engine builders / performance tuners in the north east of England that are recommended by any members?

Sourcing and using good quality components, balancing them and then ensuring you have nice smooth gas flow will aid performance definitely. You could also upgrade your cam but personally I have no experience of this.

Deffo balance the entire bottom end, crank pistons and rods, front pulley, flywheel and clutch carrier....try to get a Saab flywheel assy if you can as they are loads lighter.

A decent Fast Road cam will do wonders though I'm not sure flowing the head does much according to some on here....would have though flowing the valves would though...on my original sprint years ago I had all the above done and fitted enlarged down pipes and a Janspeed exhaust and that had a good 140 at the wheels on standard carbs....used to give all the XR2 and 3 boys a scare!
