Got a set of Sprint wheels for my 1850 and they are in reasonable shape but 2 of the center caps don't / won't fit properly! Just wondering if it depends on year made etc and how many different types of center caps are there? Out of the 5 wheels only 2 carry the same code but what do the codes represent?
Cheers Rich..

There are two manufacturers; SM for sterling metals and GKN

Dates can look like b 74 e 75 the letter represents every two weeks of the calendar year b = 3 & 4 th week of January and the number are year, 1974 =74 etc

The wheels are cast in a gravity die and then machined, the date codes are used for batch traceability, material analysis Etc should a wheel prove defective under the foundry's warranty.

The center caps can be a tight fit.
