I'm looking at buying a Sprint (well technically its a 1500 that has been top to bottom converted into a Sprint - including engine)

I suspect it might be a bargain, however it has a fair amount of work to be done to it. The inside is wet, so I'll be getting new carpets and seats, the headlining is ripped and the vinyl sunroof is ripped.

My main concern is that I wont be able to find someone to sort out the roof for me, I know there are companies that can sort the vinyl, but does anyone have any experience with getting the roof including the sunroof redone. I don't want to fork out a penny on the car until I know a rough ballpark figure of how much to repair it and the headlining.

I've looked through the forums and have struggled to find any companies that would sort it.

Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks in advance gents.

I think you should first check the side sills and inside the rear wheel arches particularly under the rear seat, and also the bulkhead in the front around the accelerator and the front wheel arches.

Mine cost a fortune to do, and the car was in a dry garage for 20 years, rotted away with no external signs.

Somewhere like Aldridge trimming in Wolverhampton will recover a Weathershields/Webasto type sunroof as well as Vinyl and headlining. Not the cheapest, but one of the best in the country.

Your contingency could be to replace the roof panel and bin the sunroof.

Thanks gents, anyone any experience of ignoring a sunroof and vinyling over the top, I don't want to do it if looks odd. It's a little raised around the edges to my eye.

I looked at that Wolverhampton company and suspect they'd be out of my budget. I can't afford to spend a grand getting the vinyl and headlining done - I'm happy getting rid of the sunroof so long as it doesn't look odd.

Be under no illusions, recovering a sunroof and new vinyl roof will not be anything like cheap.

To remove the sunroof you want to get a section of roof from a scrap car welded in. That needs to be done well, but if a vinyl roof is going over it there is no reason it should be obvious.
the raised edges are some sort of trimming, they can go if you remove the sunroof.

I guess all this depends on how good the rest of the car is and how much it will cost to buy. Few people will spend way more on what the end article will be worth. And as it is not an original sprint that already dents its value.
