Headlinings - what car does this one fit?

Tony G has commented on James467 restoration project that a T2000 headlining will fit a Dolomite.
Can anybody tell me then what is the new headlining I hold here is for? It is clearly identified as part number 614609 under which someone has written that it is for a Triumph 2000. The part number is certainly not the same as the headlining fitted to a Dolomite so I am a little puzzled as to why, if indeed this is a Triumph 2000 part, it will fit the Dolomite range.

It was me who pointed out that a T2000 headlining will fit a Dolomite,
the roof area of a 2000 is not much bigger than a Dolomite but, crucially
the spacing between the tensioning bars is the same.
You simply trim off the excess once the headlining is positioned.
(It is best to fit a (warm) headlining on either a hot summer's day or in a well heated garage,
as it cools the headlining will become taut.)
The 614609 part number comes up on the Rimmers website as a headlining but there is no product description
so I cannot cross reference it to a car model.
I have asked a question on the T2000 Register forum so will hopefully find out.
Ian.
PS Back in the 90s I fitted a NOS T2000 headlining to my Sprint.

Your headlining is correctly labelled Robert. It was used on all mark 2 saloons.
The reason for two parts......
when cutting off a roll it is more economic to cut two different sizes.
If you made them all 2000 sized you would have considerable waste when making them for Dolomites....
along the lines of only getting 10 when 11 is possible for instance.
Rimmers show 614609 as being in stock.

Thanks Ian
In my hurry to spell out a message here, I neglected to read James467 thread correctly and take careful note that it was indeed you who commented about being able to fit a T2000 headlining to a Dolomite.
I thought it might be smart to start this thread rather than take over James’s thread and it will I hope help those who may do a search on the Forum sometime in the future. They may also be looking for headlinings and the various options available.
I am rather intrigued though to read that the T2000 headlining will fit for it suggests that the C pillars and the width of the roof must be the same on both cars. If that be the case are the back windows common to both cars I wonder?
Your comment about fitting the headlining warm is very valid. It took me six months to fit mine for I would pull it a little tighter each time I worked on it and then clip into place. I was using a hair dryer to warm it to remove the creases and to allow it to stretch more easily. I would then let it sit for a week or more and repeat the exercise all over again until eventually I was satisfied that it was taut and wrinkle free all over. Only then did I carefully glue the edges and clamp it.
It seems that I have a spare headlining although I am going to need one to fit the HJ 1700 Sprint restoration which I have started. I noted too that Rimmers list 614609 but when I looked on their website I was unable to read what it would fit. Now we know!

Robert, here goes....
A Dolomite back screen (or backlight as it is called in the Owner's handbook) is smaller that the 2000 one,
I think the perimeter is around 5 or 10 cm less for the Dolomite
(some time ago I started a thread to confirm this....it is possible to use a shortened T2000 back screen rubber on a Dolomite).
You won't be able to use a Dolomite headlining in a 2000 because said 2000 is slightly too wide.
In the 90s Rimmer Bros were selling off NOS T2000 headlinings in their sales...it was from them that I discovered
that these were suitable for Dolomites. I fitted one to a Sprint at the time.
There is plenty of material to cover the C-posts.
hope this helps,
Ian.
