We do have a recently-registered account on here in the name of "dinky". The forum software allows users to send each other private messages (known as PMs) and the forum sends an email to the recipient to inform them that a message has been sent to them from a particular user. The email contains a link to the forum so that the recipient can quickly login to the forum to view the PM in their In Box. If spammers have devised a way of emailing forum users I'd be very surprised as these contact details are not accessible to anyone other than forum admins. If users do have concerns about PMs or email they have received supposedly from other forum users, then please let us know immediately. We do go to very great lengths to ensure that the forum is a safe place for our users. However, on the general topic of "hacking", there is currently a worldwide surge in the number of malicious emails containing malware-infected files - be careful!

I'm fully up to speed on how PM work and the notifications work via email. I had the mail but no message in the inbox on the forum. I didnt click the link in the mail to try it as I was sceptical. Can a PM be withdrawn by the sender?
Cheers

Yes it can be deleted if the receiver hasn't opened it by going to outbox, selecting the message then selecting delete.

GTS250N, Ive just checked my PM's and see what youve done

The deleted message from you shows as a message title but says "message deleted by sender" or similar. On the message I started this topic about this didnt happen and was simply not there.?
