I have the clutch working (1500)

After new thrusts, new clevis pin, new pipe and new seals I got the clutch working with the old girling slave. Slight problem, bore in that slave is shot, so it leaks. The new slave failed to work with all those new parts, till I extended the slot 5mm further back. Now I have a working cultch, I think I have been hit by the curse of out of spec classic car parts again.
Out of interest could you remove the dolly clutch sleeve for the slave, and simply bolt a Spitfire slave directly to the bellhousing? Surely the bell housing from a dolly 1500 and a spitfire 1500 must be the same. Spitfire slaves are about half the price.

There should be no difference between a spit 1500 slave and a dolly 1500 one.
The slaves from midgets might be Lockheed ones to match the midget master.
Girling OE ones all have that stupid peened over steel end cap instead of a boot.
Did I sell you a slave?

You didn't sell me the slave, the one I have is from ANG classic parts, made in Italy, make unknown.
Frankly the clutch is behaving in alsorts of wierd ways, I swear i can hear the release bearing a the top of the pedal and the damn thing has started squealing again, this is a nos one, replacing the last duff bearing. Yet I have to stamp down on the pedal to get first, and reverse is crunch time.
Frankly with the noisy layshaft bearing, the transmission isn't exactly in the best of health. I am loathed to take it all apart, with the overdrive it weighs about 40 tonnes.
Still at least the engine works after the minor rebuild.
Okay.......

There will be a way to solve the slave cylinder problem.
There may be a concentric slave conversion for a Spitfire, but if not,
in the kit car world you get universal push/pull slave cylinders......
