Do we really need so many obituaries?

I really don't think it gives a good impression of the club to see 10 irrelevant obituaries on the first page of general chat.

I hope this is an April Fool joke...

I must admit that I've posted a fair few obituaries (there was only one that I didn't start). They're all dropping like flies recently. Andy/Ian, if you're reading this let me know if I've gone a bit mad with the obituaries. I try to be selective because they were some part of my life. In this case, I grew up watching The Two Ronnies (it is still funny to this day) and I enjoyed Ronnie Corbett's rambling monologues which seemed to stray which were of course well scripted.

Does anybody remember the BBC sitcom Sorry! which featured the man himself as an ageing mummy's boy. His screen father would always say "Language, Timothy!" if he said anything remotely profane.

Ronnie has lived near me for many years. I bumped into him several times, especially at local golf clubs (as a keen player myself). He was always funny, charming and self-deprecating. A nicer more sincere person it is impossible to imagine.

Everyone has to go someday, but truly good folk like him are few and far between these days.

A quite marvellous man, and the world is poorer for his passing.

Another forum I use has a single thread with new obituaries added to the bottom. It does help keep things tidy whilst giving somewhere for people to express sadness or whatever.

Seen as there is sometime gaps of a week or more without any other posts in the general chat area, and that there has sadly been a fair few obits recently I'm not surprised there are a few.

I don't know you and your writing style, but I personally found your post disrespectful to the OP, and your sentiment could have been put across in a much more constructive way.
