Sprint propshaft.

Does anybody know if the CV joint in the middle of the Sprint prop is shared with anything else in the BL range?
I know the boot and the balls in the joint are the same as a Mini Inner pot joint, but the cage is slightly smaller. I am thinking possibly Maxi?
I need to change mine,as it would appear a recon prop does NOT include reconditioning the CV joint.

Hi Tony,
I am having my prop reconditioned at the moment
They told me that the inner cv joint was no longer available , and said that they could fit a different part in place of it
The front and back UJ joints and centre bearing are still available
Regards Simon

It's easier (and cheaper) to have a new prop made up from scratch according to Dave Mac Props. They reconditioned mine but mine was a very late triple UJ one rather than the CV joint type.

Thanks for the replies. As I have already shelled out to Rimmers, for the recon prop I have,I would rather sort it out.Failing that I have thought about Dave Mac Propshafts,as I have an old copy of dolly mixture with the John Abra article in it.

I found the same here. I have a Sprint propshaft that needs a new C.V. joint and centre bearing so I rang the propshaft place in Feltham, Middx; and all they could offer was ( as has been mentioned ) replacing the C.V. joint with a standard propshaft joint ( Hooke joint ?) but they could do the centre rubber O.K. They quoted about £125.

The prop rotates faster than a standard cv joint in a drive shaft so the Mini boot deteriorates as it isn't designed to rotate so fast. You'll want to get a TR7 cv boot for this, they are noticeably thicker if you get the right one and not just someone trying to sell you a Mini one.
I suspect that you'll find that the TR7 cv joint is the same as well.

Hi James, thanks for the info,I read your resto thread, which was informative.I went looking for a TR7 boot but could not find anyone who sells them, any ideas?
Plus if I cant sort the joint out, then it wont matter,as I will have to get Dave Mac propshafts to fit the Transit joint.
