Has anyone fitted the right-angled drive gear for a speedo ? The car has overdrive and the speedo is not working although the cable is O.K.
If the right angled drive is removed, from the overdrive unit, will oil be lost.?
I have also been told by a mechanic that if the right angled drive has packed in,a piece from it may be inside the overdrive, and could damage the gearing. Looking for any ideas / help on this please.
Cheers

I have removed a few of these from different cars, no oil escaped.
They are screwed on to a drive gear gear from the o/d.

On your second point, I think the angle drives always fail internally so no part could be lost within the o/d.

What Ian said...
You can try it yourself off the car too. Turn the input and see if t he output goes round at the same speed.
I think its nothing too posh in there. Just a bit of bent thick bowden cable with two square ends one of each sex..
