An interesting indicator light problem.

When I took one of my 1500HL dolomite's out this morning and indicated I was about to turn right I heard the rapid clicking that indicates that there is a problem. Anticipating the normal blown bulb or a bad earth I started at the rear lamp. I have had problems in the past at this point with bad connections. However all was fine today, so I moved the the front light fitting. Again I could not find any problem so I moved on and check the three way connector by the radiator that feeds the fitting. Still nothing obviously wrong. I was beginning to wonder if my trailer connections might be causing the problem but I decided to operate the hazard warning lights a few times to see if this could be causing the problem. Much to my surprise when I operated the hazard warning switch the hazard warning signal lights worked correctly so there obviously was not a problem with the off side wiring / bulbs or earths. Not only that when I switched the hazard warning switch off and tried the indicator lights once more they worked correctly. This was a new problem that I have not come across before. I was aware the a bad connection in the Hazard light switch could stop the indicators working but I had not come across the switch just causing a problem with one side.
