One of my Brake cylinders is leaking on the 1850, didn't realise there were so many variants to choose from! If anybody could advise which to order, 1850 , 1974 if that helps.
Thanks Rich..

Just clean it out and change the seal...
I just did one on mine, saves undoing the union if it wont come off...
Probably a larger bore type on a 74, but nothing is certain. Neither is it certain both sides are the same sadly....

The seal kit has to match the cylinder you have fitted. I had some NOS ones that I had kept in a box for years.....
There are a few good girling and other hydraulic seal suppliers about. You just need the bore size from your existing cylider.

Ok so after finally getting to remove hub today expecting to have to change the rear cylinder, it's not the cylinder leaking! So my question is how many seals are there to replace in rear hub? and does anyone have ref numbers asap so I can get them ordered? 1850 auto 1974 if it makes a difference being auto.
Thanks Rich

Hi Rich, Now you have an early 1850. The problem being which side of 1974 is the axle build ?.
Yes, there are 2 seals and I think you are at the stage of having the drum off rather than the hub.
From the early 1850 parts book 520502/A July 1973, all 1850's, be they automatic or manual, have the following parts.
Inner seal = 21H5097
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-21H5097 Which cross-res to GHS181 as below.
Hub bearing = GHB180
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GHB180
Outer seal = GHS111
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GHS111
Gasket = GFG117
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GFG117
Now if its a later diff; you will have...
Inner seal = GHS181
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GHS181
Hub bearing = GHB180 As above
Outer seal = GHS184
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GHS184
Gasket = GFG117 As above
It is well worth while doing the rear wheel bearing at the same time. I imagine the fluid you are seeing is axle oil which will have washed the grease out of the bearing. Pack the bearing with Castrol LM or similar before fitting.
HTH,
Tony.
