Whats the consensus for refixing chrome trim?

Clips or adhesive?

Both if you're talking about windscreen and boot trim, I prefer to use old style windscreen sealant. Just my opinion.

Sorry should have been more specific. I meant the trims around the boot and rear valance and down the sides of the car

I would use trim tape and for the rear ones round the edges I would use Sikaflex or similar.

Agreed - I spent a small forrtune on clips off ebay similar to the ones that came off, and they all pinged off after a day or so.

Glue 'em on!

Thanks for the advice guys. I agree the clips are pricey already bought most of them but from a rust encouragement point of view would prefer no to use clips

I'm leaving the rubbing strips and sill mouldings off the Sprint, to clean up the look and discourage rust, and when I did the Carledo's body I left off the 2 boot mouldings on the NOS bootlid and sawed the pins off all the badges and taped them on with modern badge tape.

Tape gets my vote! Anything that helps resist entropy is good with me!

I use the clips and they work fine as long as they aren't fitted cold. They're very brittle when cold and some snap off when you knock them in and I reckon some of those that seem ok may be damaged unseen on fitting and if one or two snap off on a section the trim is likely to come off. I put them in hot water now for about 15 minutes before fitting and apply a bit of washing up liquid to the centre pin and they rarely fail.
For the ones round the boot lid and rear panel the important thing is that there souldn't be any paint build up because if there is the trim never goes on right. If the seam is nice and neat they go on easily and stay on ok, but any thickening of the seam and you've got a struggle on your hands!
