Acceptable part quality

I ordered a rocker arm from a well known supplier, who I won't name here, because I don't want to cause problems for the club.
Now I don't think this is acceptable quality even for a 2nd hand part. What is your opinion?

S/h parts from that company is never a succes. The man who did pick and pack probably doesn't know what it is and how it's supposed to look like. It's just a partnumber business and no technical knowledge.

It is used, but I would expect a secondhand part to be useable. What they have sent is basically scrap.
Other supplies have always sent useable parts or listed the damage if there was any. At least I know to avoid this company in future. Most expensive and lowest quality.

I can guess the company and I am not normally a fan....
But Sprint rocket fingers are in short supply. That one doesnt look worn, just corroded.
I'd dip it in some rust removing fluid - even diet coke - overnight and see how it comes up with a bit of wire brushing.
The end is hardened which I suspect makes it more prone to rust though I'm no mettalugist...
As long as the hardening is still present and it cleans up it should be usable.

I imagine you might want to re-grind your fingers anyway.

I think there are a couple of options here ....
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=30918
in the For Sale section.....
The photo shows a couple of separate rocker assemblies.
When I were a lad doing my apprenticeship I recall that items like rocker arms were hardened on the running tips and that this hardening is only a few thou; deep. So the rust and corrosion will probably have gone straight through this. A good engine recon; shop should have facilities to machine the rocker tips and then re-harden them. What is the phosphor bronze bush like. It is probably worth getting this done as well.
Jon ,
trackerjack, on here is one person that will be able to help.
