Radiator fittings

I've just got round to fitting the replacement rad that came with my 1300 when I bought it - it looked similar enough to the old one that I didn't bother measuring it, but it's about 3 inches taller. You can see where the lower brackets and hose (don't) line up:

I'm guessing it's from an 1850? If so, will the brackets and hose section from an 1850 both work, or will I have to fabricate (bodge) something instead?

If that's an 1850 rad its in sideways and missing its fitting brackets too.

They have 2 pipes at the top and one at the bottom. One of the top pipes is smaller bore.

If that describes the rad in the pics it won't be any use on an ohv engined car.

No, the rad's exactly the same as the old one, just longer. Same hose layout, etc. The 1850 was a daft guess, sorry!

Maybe a 1500 then? Or just a dodgy aftermarket copy?

The label says it's from a posh sort of Ford.

Okay….

An 1850 radiator will fit an ohv engined car, you need the normal 1850 mounting brackets,
the mountings for it are on the inner front panel.

This has been detailed in Dolly Mixture.

Each Dolomite / Toledo engine size has it own radiator, the the 1500 unit is a taller version of the 1300 radiator. The 1500 and 1300 radiators can be visually differentiated from the 1850 and Sprint versions as they have a small tube on the top for the expansion bottle hose (the 1850 /Sprint connection is on the thermostat housing), additionally the 1850 /Sprint radiator has a framework each side that bolts on the top and bottom sides of the radiator.

That answers my question then, thanks!! It is indeed a taller version of the original, with the small expansion tube.

I just need to source a bottom hose from a 1500 then :| I can probably knock up some adaptors for the brackets tbh. I was intending to 'tweak' the engine at some point anyway, so a slightly bigger rad would be handy.
