A 1500 non overdrive box would slip straight in, and of plentiful supply.

What symptoms are you experiencing with your's? You may find someone who'll do you a straight swap...

What is your location?

Wow someone who wants to fit a non o/d box, must be a first. As Alun says there's loads as normally people want to 'upgrade' to o/d ones. I always found my non o/d 1500 OK provided you didn't hammer it along too much. The o/d one I had was much better at cruising I admit but I never got round to swapping out.

I don't know much about O/D boxes but I don't the gearbox is the problem, good be something in the linkage that is not returning properly or out of adjustment. did you have the pressure plate skimmed by any chance?

No nothing skimmed , if your driving along in gear ( any gear) and put the foot down it doesn't skip , it only slips after your changing gears or taking off in first and if you easy of it engages and your away again till you change gear again ?

If you give the clutch pedal a wee jig in any gear it just slips !

Is it clutch slip or overdrive slip? Since you have renewed all the clutch components you should suspect the overdrive. There is an amazingly comprehensive four page article on the J type O/D to be found here http://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technica ... 1/JOD1.htm

I suggest you just try a different overdrive unit.

Its unusual for the cone clutch to go on a 1500, but it does sound like that is the problem.

The overdrive unit will come off the end of the box on a 1500 or 1850, although access to the change remote is better with the
tunnel out. The remote support has to be disconnected from the overdrive unit.

To me it seams that something is slow on realising after the the clutch is let out .
I still have the tunnel out so I have the axis , I live in Ireland and the chances of getting another box that's guaranteed to be working would be slim , I don't do any long distance driving in it so that's why I was just looking to see did any other gearbox fit so I could keep an eye out .
Can get plenty of herald boxes but not many Dolomites about .

if it slips in all gears it wont be the overdrive unit, sounds like the operating lever is stiff or gummed up with old grease or oil or bent., or the fluid is not returning from the slave cylinder back to the master cylinder,

When you mean the operating lever is stiff or gummed up what is involved in sorting that out ?
As I said before the slave cylinder , master cylinder and clutch kit is all new , that's why I can't figure out what else would be the problem other than the overdrive unit but this could be the culprit, any information on doing this would be a great help , thanks

A spit 1500 box would be fine or a dolomite 1300 or 1500. They are all the same.

You would need a different cross member IIRC.

This does sound more like clutch than O/D. Is it possible that the clutch hose 155956 has collapsed internally acting as a 1-way valve ? More common on braking systems but not impossible. It would be an easy & cheap swap.

There's a copper pipe fitted to mine if that's a good thing or a bad thing I don't know ?

Do your ends of the pipe look like this

viewtopic.php?f=19&t=25122&start=240#p253862

with a black flexible pipe in between.

Also your suspect clutch slip - when in second or third gear clutch out, if you stab your foot down on the accelerator pedal do the revs increase with no apprent increase in speed.
