Does anyone know if the TR7 sump pan is the same as the sprint engine?
The sprint engine Im rebuilding was fitted to a TR7 and has a pan that is straighter and in better nick than the one in the car now so wondered if they are the same?
Thanks

Re: Sump pan TR7 vs. Sprint
The TR7 Sprint sump has a welded bracket which extends toward and under the bellhousing of the gearbox from the bottom of the pan itself and is readily identifiable...but won't fit with the Dolomite subframe.
The TR7 pan, RKC726 looks similar to the Sprint/1850 one, 215513, but is different; whether the TR7 one will fit a Dolomite or not, I cannot answer, but if you do swap sumps, then swap dipsticks too! I suspect the answer is no, at least a Dolomite one won't fit a TR7, else in 1974/5 they would surely have used a part already in existence rather than commissioning a new pressing...?

Re: Sump pan TR7 vs. Sprint
TR7 pans are incompatible with dolomite sub frames of either slant type...
Dip stick and tube goes with pan. TR7 stick reads low mark when full on a 1850 sump.

Re: Sump pan TR7 vs. Sprint
Thanks guys..
Bugg@r...but at least I asked and someone knew. Would have been an even more PITA if Id have fitted it and then went to drop it back in the car!
Another thing I`ll be doing when the old motor is out. Im still curious about what may have caused it to expire in the way it did.
Thanks once again. I'm very grateful that there are people that know this stuff otherwise it would have been another thing to find out and have to undo!
Thanks
