1973 Sprint body / commission number plate info

Hi All,
I'm just doing a bit of research for early Sprints built in 1973
Please can people put there cars commission / body number on here , as trying to find any numbers that are close to my car
VA 62 DL
80495 WB

You might also like to know that the body number of my shell is 068684 WO. This shell was made towards the end of production but was never allocated to a build and hence it never had a chassis number. Unfortunately I forgot to remove the body number tag when it was sent to SPL and it has been lost. I still have the one for my original car somewhere.

Mike, you forgot VA6 which now belongs to Paul & Polly B. Maybe they can provide you with the body number. VA16 will have ended up in the posession of the late Brian Kitley's estate (following his death) and may have been disposed of.

Hi Guys,
VA6's body number is 67803WB. This makes the body older than VA1's but Triumph always were a bit random.

Paul Geering's car is VA124 if memory serves me correctly. I owned VA122 about 15 years ago, but don't have record of the body number unfortunately. Last I heard it was owned by a Mr Ivens of Staffordshire, laid up with a blown engine and a rotten front end.

I still own VA122 and it has just come out of storage to be recommissioned. The body number quoted from the heritage cert is T.83635/WB Its original engine was VA/65-HE though i think this is not the original one that came in the car when I got it back in 1999. I have a good running engine that came from a terminally rusty late W reg Sprint that will be used in its recommissioning. I have stored it full of almost neat antifreeze so hope it has not corroded inside over the last decade or so!
The build date is quoted as 13th march 1973 and was obviously ordered for the 1st August M plate as that was when it was registered.
It is about time i got it working again especially as it is now free road tax and will probably become mot exempt in the next couple of years
