Reconditioned Sprint Water Pum Impellers

Does anyone have a supplier for reconditioned 12 vane impellers, with the ceramic "polo" fitted.
I'm not in an imediate rush, I've got the pump out of the spare engine in at the moment. But as I had to re-build it into the brass cage stuck in the block -didn't have time to build a puller and the slide hammer didn't work - I'm not happy that'll last, and the spare's now without one. I need a replacement, not a repair kit, because I broke the impeller pulling it off the pump shaft.

Hart Racing Services, Stag specialists is probably your best option, he usually has a recon service advertised on ebay

Well thank you, and I might take you up on your very kind offer, but I'm looking for a 12 vane one. I'd have to find a 6 vane cover to go with that, and I'm a bit concerned about cooling problems as it is - see post on electric fan issues. So I'd rather not go back to a 6 vane I can avoid it.

It is for the 12 vein cover.....Alun will vouch for this!!

Well, given the practise I'm getting whiping the inlet manifold and pump cover off and on, it's worth a try. Does the curved vane design aid throughput? I've seen all the electric cooling fans are going to curved blades, but didn't know if there's a real benefit or it's a fad.
I ask because I've got some sort of cooling issue, and I don't know what it is, whether it's one of or some combination of fan, switch, radiator, pump, or, possibly, the guage. It did boil when I'd been running down the motorway and then stopped in traffic. But when I checked, the pump was leaking more than a little, and I assumed it had run low on coolant - the rads don't radiate so well when they're only half full,. It's hard to tell if it was full before it boiled. But now I've fixed the leak and it's still running hot - well see the other thread.

Saab went to a lot of effort to overcome the shortcomings of Triumphs water pump design.
Their 6 vane version works under a 12 vane cover on a triumph slant four (I know having run one for years).
On the 99 Turbo Saab redesigned the pump going to an 8 vane impeller and making the pump rebuildable in situ,
however on the 900 they went for an external pump……

Logic would say that 6 was better than 12 because the vanes take up more space that could be water instead! curved draws the flow in better too.
Sorry but it is typical of BL to go the wrong way when presented with a problem.

The dolomite 6 vane is in my opinion the best.

I've heard it said that the works cars eventually used a 12v but with every other vane milled off.
I too have fit the SAAB pump/impellar under a 12 v cap after having measured it against a 12 v cover. It is fine.

It seems that what blades curved backwards, like that SAAB impeller, do is limit thr load on the impeller at high rpm: there's an rpm where the load on the pump, and the amount of fluid pumped, flattens out for increasing speed, and will even start to decrease if you go faster still. So, because they self limit, backwards curved vanes can be larger and pump more coolant at low speed but still not overload the pump at high speeds.
