How to identify an 8 valve slant head

I picked up a cylinder head last night, it was thought to be a left bank stag head but then thought to be an 1850. I bought the head but think now it could be TR7.
The head had has V3339 on it and my 1850 has V2359 (IIRC) and my 1850 has a small water passage under the 3 & 4 inlet ports and this head doesn't have that.
I seem to recall that TR7 heads have a larger combustion chamber capacity? and therefore not suitable for an 1850.

Bother ! Beaten to it ! I'm slow off the mark I'm afraid.
But yes, that head is 1850. The casting numbers on my 1850 are also V3339 and LM25WP . I can't find the " 3 " on the end plate but mine has a "6" stamped by the centre stud.

I had always believed that the later dolomite and TR7 heads are identical including a slight increase in exhaust valve size and the absence of the
water passage which was only ever there for the SAAB 99 application.
Once the SAAB and Triumph engine production diverged the Triumph one didnt need the slot anymore. The stag head on one side is the same
as the dolomite early one. My Stag is an early example and has the slot. I'm not sure about later ones. We can ask...
Jeroen however I believe thinks they are different.
I really must do a more detailed comparison sometime....

Jeroen is correct.
The coolant transfer slot has nothing to do with Saab at all. It was for the V8 engine and is found on all Stags.
