Yes it is good so many cars together.
Unusually i didn't hear them roaring through the town centre
and didn't see any on the way to Groats either but see a Herald as
I drove back to Wick.

this car sounded like the taxis that are popular in Africa, the
badge on the front panel is the clue………

Seen a few of those before at various meets like the Ace.
I think one or two of them may also have received some attention chez moi....

Looks like the Big 6 is the weapon of choice for this run. Can't argue with that if not paying the fuel. Else it would be an overdrive 1850 for me...

There were a few more stags than that. 9 of the std variety, plus 1 stag saloon and 1 estate (as in proper, from new Del Lines cars)

Yep, the big saloons are probably the "best" cars for the job, but TR7 powered tolly wasn't at all bad. Though I have discovered why we only averaged 31mpg.Vacuum advance was sticking, and the advance springs are stretched (that means max advance was only about 20 degrees, rather than the 32ish plus vacuum I would expect

Most unusual car must be Dirks Renown, second time it has completed the run. Apparently it is like a mobile sofa!

Next year is the 10 countries run mate, the next RBRR is not till 2018! So you have no excuse! I'm planning to be on that one myself, with the Dolomega, which doesn't even have an engine at the moment!

Karlos, if the car is sound and you are happy to sit at the legal speed limit on the motorway for a couple of hours, the car should be fine. But now is the time to start thinking, 2 years goes VERY quick when prepping! Usual thing is to be 100% certain about every part of the car. No shortcuts, no "that should be OK". Double check and make sure all components you use are good quality.

Much as I would love to do the 10CR, the missus is not up to that much travelling, I can't afford it and in any case it's highly unlikely the car will be ready in time for it.

I agree about prep, but no matter how careful you are, you ALWAYS end up burning the midnight oil a couple of days before a deadline event!

I took my GT6 Convertible to the international Spitfire weekend at Arcen in Holland just 3 days after completing a 2 year body off resto, did 1150 miles in 5 days with NO breakdown cover and very little went wrong/fell off! A few teething problems got sorted en route, the car returned 36 MPG over the run and several German guys offered me silly money for the car whilst at the show!

You're not alone in that one Tony! I still haven't quite forgiven myself for parting with my 2500S estate (or my 2 Zodiac MkII Abbot-of-Farnham estates or my Volvo Amazon 122S estate) But the big wagons are now either too rotten or too expensive for my budget. And, of course, I'd have to transplant something meaty like a turbo'd Skyline engine in...........
