Gearbox Bracket 1850HL - Single Rail with O/D

I have purchased an overdrive gearbox for the 1977 1850HL which I shall be getting soon (it doesn't currently have O/D). I have been having a look at the box today and removed the rear mounting bracket shown in the photo. I assume it isn't supposed to look like it was sat on by an elephant. Am I right? Also, is the long bolt supposed to be welded inside the bracket?
Other than that the box seems to be in good condition at first glance. The overdrive is an unknown quantity to me, never having worked with one before. I shall replace the front and back oil seals at the very least. Any good tips for getting the prop shaft flange nut undone?
Oh yes, and has anyone got the correct crossmember for the O/D gearbox? I shall need one and am willing to pay a reasonable price.
Thanks, Mike.
