Opinion is definately divided when it comes to the vinyl Roof.
Rather than drag over the should I / shouldn't I, are there considerations around the use of vinyl and hot countries?
We regularly see 35+ for a number of days per month for perhaps 5 or 6 months a year here which translates to car body work temps in the high 60s-70 degrees if not more.

Thoughts on the longevity of the roof material and adhesive in those temps?

I know the chap who painted my car said the adhesive these days is rubbish so he wouldn't do the roof for me and that was in England!

In a hot country though original I think the vinyl roof would just be a hassle you could do without. I've seen lots of cars in the US with vinyl roofs which have failed and look very tatty, no doubt the same would happen down under. If you garage the car and don't use it all the time then I guess it's less of an issue.

If you want the look without the hassle paint the roof Satin Black.

As I look at the miserable grey sky and the rain drizzling down I have some unprintable thoughts about your issue with a hot vinyl roof...

I am sure a vinyl roof shouldn't be an issue in a hot country. I had an 11 year old Oldsmobile in Texas and the vinyl roof was lovely. The paintwork was completely destroyed by the sunlight, though!

When the black vinyl roof covering on my 1974 Triumph Toledo 1300 started to peel off at the edges and had otherwise deteriorated, I removed it completely and brush-painted it in 1990/91 with Finnigan's "hammered-finish" black Hammerite enamel which camouflaged all the underlying blemishes, such as scratched paintwork where the dealership had keyed the surface with course abrasive. It still looks good!
