New member after advice

Hi Folks
I am new to this forum,

considering buying a Dolomite and would be glad of any advice. I have had classic cars before and recently disposed of my 3.0l V6 Mk1 Mr2. I am suffering withdrawal symptoms!
Obviously most important is trying to avoid rust but I would appreciate any other thoughts/guidance on model choice, realistic prices etc.
I don't want a major restoration but am pretty competent on the mechanical side. I want a car to drive regularly but not daily as I also have a van.
I live near Stockport and would really appreciate meeting any local member who could show me their car.
Any advice gratefully received.
Jonny

Hi Jonny,
Welcome to the forum.
In terms of which car to go for, it all comes down to budget and what you want to do with your car. Sprints offer the most performance but are more expensive. If you want character, all Dolomites have bags of it. The 1500s seem a particularly decent car and there are lots to choose from. The SE is quite distinctive but rare.
Hope that helps.

I'll PM you a guide, if you haven't a copy of Classics Monthly Feb 2010.
This post is full on anorak but the side effect is that it goes into detail on what should and should not be found depending on the model and year, which will help in finding out just how original that original barn find car your looking at is:

Hope that helps and we see you soon as a member/owner!

There's a vacancy in that area, but there are groups in Staffordshire, Shropshire and West Midlands?

Is there anyone in the Manchester area willing to meet and chat about dolomites? If I buy one I will join the club honest!

We'll be at the MG & Triumph Show at Stoneleigh on 19th February. There'll be a few Dolomites on display and plenty of people to chat to about them.
