What's the optimum battery dimensions for the Sprint?

With my battery I cannot fit the air flow pipes from the air filter box to just behind the grille as the battery gets in the way.

Length: 220 mm
Width: 135 mm
Height: 225 mm

Halfords do one the numeral code escapes me at the moment it is either 19 or 39 (definately got a 9 in it).

I have an 038 in mine, and the std air filter was always touching the battery.

Carledo Replaced engine mount, and it's just clear now.

I fitted a Varta B34 Blue to my Sprint, it's ever so slightly longer and not as wide as an 015 but it fits the standard battery brackets perfectly and without modification!

45 Amp-hour and maintenance free!

The last two 015 batteries cost about the same and barely outlasted their 3-year warranty.

A type 159 just fits, first purchase on the way home from picking my car up after it died on me! Only suitable battery that Kwik Fit had in stock, and they were the only people in walking distance, but did, and has continued, to do the job.

I've seen 049H and 015 listed as fitting too, as said by others. Tayna batteries do a find the battery from the dimensions tool that might be useful: https://www.tayna.co.uk/tools/battery-wizard

Thanks for that Paul. In fact the dreaded tester came today and the result was less than stellar as we couldn't find the engine number!

The engine number on a Sprint is often hard to find (and sometimes even harder to read) It's on the near horizontal surface of the block, underneath the carbs and about the middle of the face, both front to back and sump to head.

It's definitely not between the fuel pump and the front part.

Will remove the carbs to have a clear view (and space) to yield my wirebrush

Great shout on the Varta battery Howard....

I know what my next battery will be.... They are excellent in my Golf and various other moderns I look after.
