Another source for the chrome trim is Rarebits. They're Herald specialists but as with some other Triumph models, there is some overlap with "our" cars. It was reasonably priced too. It is documented in my resto thread (page 22). I replaced the chrome trim in August 2011 and it was a perfect fit.

Good thing about TD Fitchett is they know what you want right away, and Rarebits look like they my be no more?

I absolutely agree 100% with everything that's been said about Fitchett's. They're a bit "old school" which isn't necessarily a bad thing and the guy that answers the phone (Andy, I think) comes across as a bit grumpy but once you get past his demeanour you realize that he certainly knows his onions and the delivery service is excellent considering that they use good old Royal Mail.

thanks for the replies,when i was looking around i came across woolies has any one used them ?

Yes I have used Woolies Trim several times on various projects. They are always very helpful and will send you samples of the various rubber sections or trim materials to see which suits you best.

There is a guy on ebay that sells both the rubber and the trim. I don't know if anybody has used him.

Its all been said before but I strongly suspect most vendors are supplying the seal made by Baines.

This was advertised on their sight for toledo and 1500 applications. The screen groove is fine for non laminated zebrazone but I'm not convinced
its right for a later laminated one.

Also I found with my Baines seal that it started to split in the screen corners after less that 2 years. I could not therefore recommend i t on that basis unless the rubber formula has changed.

Your mileage may vary....

Not this old chestnut again! Yes the seal everyone is selling probably came from Baines, since they seem to be the only company currently making one.

But here are the FACTS.

There is only one part number (904111) for the screen rubber for ALL Dolomite and Dolomite related cars whether toughened or laminated screen is fitted.
Toughened and laminated screens are the same thickness to within 0.5mm, with the laminated being the slightly thicker of the 2. Measured by me on several screens of both types.
Rubber degrades in storage, especially if not stored correctly (in the dark) Some "new" rubbers may therefore be dead or dying before even being fitted.
During my research, when I was trying to get an alternative supplier, all the suppliers of Baines seals I spoke to, said they had no, or next to no, complaints about them, so were not interested in making or stocking alternatives. So I gave up!
My windscreen man (who specialises in classics and oddball cars) says he has no issue with the Baines seal either.

This happened on two Baines seals supplied by the men themselves.

If they can't store them properly what hope have the rest of us.

Is there still an Australian source for front screen rubbers? I can't remember the suppliers name but I got mine from them. Its been fitted for ~5 years and its showing no signs of degrading.

Did you tell us this already?

I was going to try an purchase a batch (of ten or twenty) in EPDM to sell through the Club but was put of doing so by
the thought of standing on someone's toes, so to speak.
My budget for this was up to £1000 as I believe there are enough discerning club members to justify such an outlay.
