Warm/hot engine - flickering oil light - 75 Toledo

Hi all,
I've found recently that when my Toledo gets to normal temp that the green oil light starts flickering.
Today it was reluctant to idle properly without a touch of choke or acceleration.
The car isn't on the road at the moment as it has been laid up for 3 years, I have started and ran it regularly during this time.
Is this a symptom of something onerous or is it perhaps down to something like the oil pump or pressure switch perhaps? I'm trying to get it back on the road but various issues have come up preventing this from happening so far, this is the latest!
Thanks in advance,
Martin

i would replace the oil pressure switch first as it is the cheapest and go from there.

The switch is always the first thing to swap out cos it's cheap and simple. I conned myself years ago that the engine in my 1850 was dying since it had a flickering oil light when I bought it. I changed the switch and all was well for 4 months, then it started to flicker on idle again. I was sure I could hear the crank grumbling and started to drive with a bit more respect. the flickering got worse (though the "noise" didn't) till the light was on solid at idle. At this point I bit the bullet and bought yet another switch and normal service was immediately resumed, no flicker, nothing! I had spent 3 months nervously tiptoeing around for another faulty switch and an imaginary rumble I had scared myself into hearing! D'OH!
