1500 downpipe to 1300 mid section

Hey guys, just wondering if a 1500 downpipe (the 2-1 type) will fit with a 1300 midsection exhaust as I currently have a 4-1 tubular manifold bodged in place (was sold to me when I was an apprentice at jigsaw, by the owner of jigsaw as a toledo manifold... was it bollocks but i'd already started with it so bodged it on anyway) I want to replace it with a 1500 manifold and downpiper and was wondering it it would just slot into my SS 1300 midsection as this would save so much hassle and money

Thanks
Cam

No it won't fit. I tried it many years ago when fitting twin carbs from a 1500 to my 1300 Dolomite. I had to use the 1500 exhaust manifold as well, because the 1300 one wouldn't fit with the twin carb inlet manifold. IIRC the 1500 down-pipe is a larger bore, so I ended up with a flexi-section of exhaust to join the two.

You can sleeve the joint to fill the gap. It might be better to get a complete Dolly 1500 exhaust as it is routed the same way as the 1300 one.

It's just the price of a new system vs 1 pipe and a sleeve for me right now, I have a 1300 manifold so might just stick that back on, just figured a 1500 would be better flow

The pipe diameters differ but you should be able to sleeve it down with a suitable reducer.

The 1500 manifold and downpipe is a bit better than the 1300 one and will do until the new club 4-2-1 setup becomes a must
have for all ohv owners.

Also as has been said a few times the single carb manifold wont fit with the 1500 and spitfire exhaust manifold, so you have to go twin carb
or do some machining to your single manifold base so it clears.
