To paint or not to paint

I managed to stuff the drivers door of my Sprint Auto into my garage wall yesterday.

I have another, very good, door but it needs painting.

Anyway I have decided to get it through it's MOT and and sell it on. So are there any opinions on whether it's worth getting the door painted before selling it? The car really could do with a respray anyway.

I have been given a rough quote of £150 - £200 to paint it and I wondered if that would increase car's value by a greater amount.

It's a pity because I have sorted out a lot of the problems and I really enjoy driving it but I'm finding looking after three Triumphs a bit much.

Is the existing door not repairable with a panel beat, filler and a rattle can?

A friend of mine had a lovely V8 5-Series BMW estate. Someone put a little dent in a door in a supermarket car park. Before he sold the car he thought he should have the door re-sprayed. It ended up being a slightly different colour and looked far worse than if he had just left the little ding in the door!

Don't know what colour your car is Alan, but if it's Russet, DO NOT PAINT! There are a least a dozen "Official" shades of Russet - and about a thousand unofficial ones! In my biased opinion, it's the hardest EVER colour to match!

Blimey Ive been very lucky then. I'd have said the halfrauds can was a perfect match for the two russet cars Ive patched up.

Brooklands and carmine on the other hand...

Another reason I persevere with pimento...
