Sprint chain guides

Hi,

Some advice please, rebuilding my sprint engine, I have a set of new reproduction chain guides from Rimmers and I also have a set of original ones in used condition (see attached photos). Not sure what mileage the used ones have covered.

Opinions please, do I use the new or the used guides?

Ive seen some cases of the curved guide detach the rubber pad, so knowing Rimmers propensity to be not that great on rubber
stuck to metal I would use the least worn of your curved guides from the two in the pic - the one on the right.

The straight guide looks pretty well worn....do you not have the one that matches the least worn of the curved ones?

Also be very careful in sourcing the correct tensioner, about which much has been said already.

Hi Jonners,

Thanks for your comments, not much in the way of opinions on that one....
I've had a closer look at the guides today, it looks as if the good curved one is a little bent on the backing, also, if laying the two on top of each other the curve is slightly different. The ropey guide has more the shape of the pattern one. Unfortunately I don't have the straight on, these just came with a small pile of parts I recently bought from a chap.

Can you recommend some good pattern ones if they exist and where to get them?

Working on the engine today, having major grief trying to establish the correct way to set the chain tension by means of the curved guide.

Regarding the tensioner, I'm lucky to have an old stock Renold one with locating dowel on the rear.
