Damn filler

My engine swap is turning into a minor rebuild and one of the jobs I have meant to tackle is rust on the boot lid. When I started guess what I found? About 10mm, at least, of filler covering the whole back of the boot. All for one dent, a similar repair to one of the doors. Done by a professional judging by the paint and flatness of the filler. Absolutely mad, they must of used tons of the stuff and god knows how long it took them to slap that much on.
I really hate filler, it is for one job, finishing panels. Even filling in dents is a bit dubious. It isn't structural, you can't bridge gaps with it, you can't fill holes. Useful as it is, in some ways I wish they had never invented the damn stuff.
Rant over.
